Back in the Race!

Chilly —  February 8, 2016 — 2 Comments

Fresh starts are AWESOME! Last night, we had the amazing opportunity to pray with over 25 students who invited Christ to come into their lives as Lord and Savior! BOOM! I love these moments!  But, if we’re not careful we begin to think (and act) like accepting Christ is the finish line rather than the starting line! It’s a beginning!  And, now the race becomes exciting!

We’re into our 2nd month of 2016 and maybe some of us have already dropped the ball on some New Year’s resolutions or goals.  SO WHAT?! Refuse to quit or feel sorry for yourself. Get up and get going fresh & new TODAY… RIGHT NOW! IF you’re still breathing, than the race isn’t over — RUN!

blogrunningprogI don’t mean to say that I have already achieved these things or that I have already reached perfection. But I press on to possess that perfection for which Christ Jesus first possessed me. 13 No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, 14 I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us. Philippians 3:12-14

The best way to forget about what’s behind is to pursue what’s ahead!

I want to help you (and me) enjoy the Christian Life WAY MORE than I ever have before!   Continue Reading…

IF you’ve read my blog or have known me personally, for very long; you know I’m all about using a daily journal for my prayer and Bible study. Well, as we begin 2015 my church and I are ALL doing the same Bible reading plan (start it on January 1st) and adding this simple journal guideline to our daily devotions. We are also committing to prayer & fasting for the first 40 days of the year!  We would love for YOU to join us to!

Let’s GROW together!

 =============================================

Jesus said, “Could you not WATCH with me one hour?” Matthew 26:40.

At the top of your page write date and when you start & end devotions:

Today’s date: _______________ Time in: ________ Time out: ________

Why do I journal?

Chilly —  January 31, 2014 — 1 Comment

Last night I had the honor and opportunity to do some online teaching for Valley Forge Christian College. I served as the Director of Youth Ministries for VFCC from 2000-2002, so it means a lot to still be asked to invest in future leaders!

The primary topic of my teaching time was on the subject of journaling and devotions.
Here’s a peek at some of my thoughts on “Why I journal”
Write these things for the future so that people who
are not yet born will praise the Lord.
Psalm 102:18

  • We wouldn’t have a Bible if people of God had not journaled.
  • It shows respect to God when we study and pray
  • I want to live accountable.
  • I want to always be teachable. Lifetime learner!
  • I want to leave a history.
  • I want my sermons to flow through me not around me.
  • It keeps me sane.
  • It’s my greatest source of encouragement.
  • I write to remember.
  • I write to obey.
Don’t pray for sermons, let sermons come from your prayers
So, as long as I’m meeting with God, I will always have something to say.
The years will teach you what the days never will. ~ Jeanne Mayo
I hope this has been encouraging and helpful. In the comments, tell us about your journal. Looking forward to it!
