Rope Holding

So during the night, some of the other believers lowered him in a large basket through an opening in the city wall. Acts 9:25

hold_the_ropeThese nameless men risked their lives to save a stranger. And, this stranger would become the greatest missionary of all time.

There is NO small decision.

Name it, Claim it … PROCLAIM IT!

…an honest look at really knowing Christ…

proclaim-itThen he told them what they could expect for themselves: “Anyone who intends to come with me has to let me lead. You’re not in the driver’s seat – I am. Don’t run from suffering; embrace it. Follow me and I’ll show you how. Luke 9:23

1. Many people today CLAIM Jesus Christ.

    • They talk about Christ. You know, everyone’s a “christian”…
    • They do many activities in Jesus’ name. Hookin’ up JC… ugh.
    • Many claim to be followers of Jesus. Until He asks for sacrifice & surrender…
    • However, are they really true disciples?  Where’s the proof…

2. CLAIMING and NAMING Christ is not always Knowing Christ.

    • Claim Christ as Savior, but not receiving Him as Lord. Free ticket to heaven, please…
    • Claim to receive Christ, yet lives never change, do not become “new creatures in Christ.” I know and that’s what counts… oh really?
    • Claim salvation, but show no desire to know Him better. He knows… we’re cool…
    • Claim to follow Christ, but never any examination of self! Don’t judge me…
    • Claim to bear the cross, but little time for Bible meditation and prayer. It’s a personal thing…
    • Claim to be His child, but never use the gifts He bestows upon us. Don’t need to show off…

3. Christ calls us to die. PERIOD.

    • Christ’s true followers die to self on cross. Bye-bye YOU!
    • Christ’s true followers bear their crosses. Livin’ it LOUD daily!
    • Christ’s true followers are in love with Him. Can’t touch my JOY!
    • Christ’s true followers march steadily and continually forward on the narrow path of life, which leads to true discipleship and a heavenly home. I can look at myself and see ONLY Him!

Sweet 16

Keep me safe, O God, for I have come to you for refuge. 2 I said to the LORD, “You are my Master! All the good things I have are from You.” 3 The godly people in the land are my true heroes! I take pleasure in them! Psalm 16

Kings HwySo many times we try to get an instant insurance policy from God when we are in a self-made mess. Come HERE we cry out! But friends, IF you want unshakable safety, come to God for refuge. Yes, learn to come to Him rather than insist on Him coming to you.  And what happens when you come to Him??

Boom! Like a brick to the cranium, you are again reminded “All”, yes ALL, “good things I have are from You!”

What’s the key to this discovery? Acknowledging: God, “You are my Master!”

Now, as you come to God and declare Him as your master, you will discover amazing earthly heroes who resemble your King of Kings! In a insecure world desperate for “role models” – we must raise up in Godliness – showing the way to truth. We must also fight to link arms with those warriors “ahead of us” that are leading a revolution of holiness with passion and purpose! YES, HEROES! Ask yourself a few questions…

– Who are the “godly people in the land” that are your “true heroes”?
Do they measure up to the eternal standards set by God? now, think about …
How have they blessed you? and, more importantly…
How have YOU blessed them recently?

… Yes, you’re very perceptive, homework comes with this study!! Continue Reading…

Authentic Discipleship

Chilly —  May 7, 2014 — 2 Comments

This is a repost about something (always) stirring in my heart…

Discipleship101The isolated individual is not an authentic person. An authentic person is one who lives in and for others. And the more genuine relationships we form with others, the more we truly validate ourselves as persons. It has even been said that there can be no true person unless there are two, entering into communication with one another.

This idea of openness to others could be summed up under the word love. By love, I don’t mean merely an emotional feeling, but a fundamental attitude. In its deepest sense, love is the life, the energy, of God in us. We are not truly genuine as long as we are turned in on ourselves, isolated from others. We only become truly real and totally alive if we face other persons, and relate to them.

This is also why discipleship must be done with others. Yes, our relationship with God – alone – is key, but our interaction with others brings validity & vitality to this relationship. Proof is not in what we say but who we are and it takes others to define this…

So, being AUTHENTIC is a choice — a desire to be vulnerable, available and personable. It’s also an opportunity to move beyond you to others. This is God’s will.

Are you AUTHENTIC?

…maybe you need to ask someone else.
