Absolute Truth

A Study of Psalm 52

For the choir director: 52 A psalm of David (regarding the time Doeg the Edomite told Saul that Ahimelech had given refuge to David).

TruthSunsetYou call yourself a hero, do you? Why boast about this crime of yours, you who have disgraced God’s people? 2 All day long you plot destruction. Your tongue cuts like a sharp razor; you’re an expert at telling lies. 3 You love evil more than good and lies more than truth… You love to say things that harm others, you liar! 5 But God will strike you down once and for all. He will pull you from your home and drag you from the land of the living… The righteous will see it and be amazed. They will laugh and say, 7 “Look what happens to mighty warriors who do not trust in God. They trust their wealth instead and grow more and more bold in their wickedness.” 8 But I am like an olive tree, thriving in the house of God. I trust in God’s unfailing love forever and ever. I will praise you forever, O God, for what you have done. I will wait for your mercies in the presence of your people.

Revenge, vindication, retribution, vengeance, justice, and more… ugh! Ahhhh, we’ve ALL wanted it, asked for it and dreamed of it!  No one should be allowed to get away with hurting people, being insensitive, lyin’ like a rug, cruelty to kids and, especially, messin’ with God. Yeah, yeah, yeah – I know, we all want to act like we only speak those “praiseworthy” statements found in Psalms but IF we’re honest, we get frustrated, ticked off, upset, hurt, heartbroken, bitter (and worse) – and when we do… LOOK OUT! Can you imagine IF others could hear our thoughts? Ouch.

Not another Rant!

I’m SO pissed  ANGRY at the devil! I HATE him! I’m sick and tired of playing defense — it’s time to RISE UP and GO AFTER the VICTORY! Who’s with me?

thumbsupThe enemy keeps messing with my kids, my family, my team, my church, my city … MY WORLD! — and, here’s the bad news for him: NONE of these things are really mine — change “my” for “God’s!” BOOM! Oh yeah, the loser is in trouble! It’s PUNK’D time!

Hey listen, this is NOT some tough sounding Facebook RANT or Blog post … I think people are sick of being challenged, WE WANT TO CHANGE! WE WANT RISK and ADVENTURE!

I know I’m not alone but I’m also NOT waiting for others to join me. This is not recruitment or persuasion. It’s time to GO!

Don’t like this? Stop reading now. Go read something else. Please.

God never, EVER, called us to be ordinary; He made us to be EXTRAORDINARY!

This is where I’m going to live.

  • IF you’re called to the ministry of prayer & intercession, PLEASE pray for: the Chiltons, Courage Church, and Detroit.
  • IF you’re called to action & adventure. Feel free to join us on the ground here. There’s no pay or position. Just opportunity to serve and make disciples.

I don’t know about you, but I’m running hard for the finish line. I’m giving it everything I’ve got. No sloppy living for me! I’m staying alert and in top condition. I’m not going to get caught napping, telling everyone else all about it and then missing out myself. 1 Corinthians 9:26-27 Msg.

Please take 8 minutes and 26 seconds to view this video. It’s about me… it’s about you… it’s about US! And, ultimately, it’s ALL about Jesus!

We shared this at our YouCharist event on Good Friday. Many have asked me to post it. It was produced by Grace Family Church and features Pastor Judah Smith.

Turn up the volume, make it full screen and prepare yourself for impact!

Cross Walk

Chilly —  April 18, 2014 — 2 Comments

This weekend, millions around the world will celebrate Resurrection Sunday and rejoice in the victory of Jesus Christ over sin and death. While current tradition on this day is to spend time with family, take pictures, attend church, and enjoy a wonderful meal, we should insure we understand that Resurrection Day is the foundation of our faith as Christians and an opportunity for all people to experience eternal life found only through a relationship with Christ the Lord.

CrossWalkDuring this “passion week”, I find it meaningful to think about what the Cross means to me. Far more than a religious symbol hung on the wall of a church or worn on a chain around our neck, the cross means forgiveness, grace, love and life.

So, today – on Good Friday – allow me to share some thoughts about the Cross by others, past and present. I also want to challenge you to take some time today to have your own “cross walk” by spending some time alone to journey back to the amazing events of passion week to consider their meaning and impact on your life. I challenge you to open yourself to the forgiveness made possible through this incredible act of sacrificial love. And to allow the cross to overcome your unforgiveness, bitterness or indifference. Consider these thoughts…   Continue Reading…
