Sweet 16

Keep me safe, O God, for I have come to you for refuge. 2 I said to the LORD, “You are my Master! All the good things I have are from You.” 3 The godly people in the land are my true heroes! I take pleasure in them! Psalm 16

Kings HwySo many times we try to get an instant insurance policy from God when we are in a self-made mess. Come HERE we cry out! But friends, IF you want unshakable safety, come to God for refuge. Yes, learn to come to Him rather than insist on Him coming to you.  And what happens when you come to Him??

Boom! Like a brick to the cranium, you are again reminded “All”, yes ALL, “good things I have are from You!”

What’s the key to this discovery? Acknowledging: God, “You are my Master!”

Now, as you come to God and declare Him as your master, you will discover amazing earthly heroes who resemble your King of Kings! In a insecure world desperate for “role models” – we must raise up in Godliness – showing the way to truth. We must also fight to link arms with those warriors “ahead of us” that are leading a revolution of holiness with passion and purpose! YES, HEROES! Ask yourself a few questions…

– Who are the “godly people in the land” that are your “true heroes”?
Do they measure up to the eternal standards set by God? now, think about …
How have they blessed you? and, more importantly…
How have YOU blessed them recently?

… Yes, you’re very perceptive, homework comes with this study!! Continue Reading…

A Late Night Psalm …

Chilly —  April 24, 2014 — 6 Comments

Have you ever read the Psalms and thought to yourself, “I should write one!”? I have and I did! I think it’s helpful to think about our faith and journey in unique and descriptive ways from time-to-time. Here’s what’s exploding in my heart tonight.

late journal

BOOM! My heart is exploding with love for my God and King!
He knows me inside out, nothing is hidden from Him; Yet, He loves me!

I once played the game: false humility, hidden pride and self reliance.
It was all religious excrement! Stench and death waiting to be discovered.

YOU did not torch me with vengeance or bury me in disgrace.
You showered me with love – with suds of grace & mercy. I’m squeaky clean!

Now I’m alive and living with joy. I smirk at my enemy; He’s exposed.
Inside of me there is a canon filled with laughter – look out sorrows!

Soon, the adventure will come to an end, ONLY to reveal a greater one!
Heaven replaces hope; Legacy replaces life; Power replaces pain!

Until then, BOOM! More explosive love & prisoners freed!
I fear nothing! I’m in the company of the One who spins the globe.

Look up, friends, grab Hope & cheer loudly. Join the radically redeemed!
Out-numbered? Perhaps. Out-loved? Never! Live eternity NOW!

Free the City

I will keep a protective eye on the godly, so they may dwell with me in safety. Only those who are above reproach will be allowed to serve me. 7 I will not allow deceivers to serve me, and liars will not be allowed to enter my presence. 8 My daily task will be to ferret out criminals and free the city of the LORD from their grip. Psalm 101:6-8

Dinner is ServedWho serves you?

Yes, I know, this is a tough thing to grasp – since “we” are all so humble & lowly.  That is, we only serve others…  (cough, cough)!

Ok, so I’m not talking about possessing slaves/servants but, rather, considering who – or, perhaps, what – serves you. Who provides your entertainment? Satisfaction? Enjoyment? Happiness? Life?

Is it the secular? Popular? Affluent? Or even liars?? Or, is it the godly? Would the merchants at the mall, or your browser on the web, or the iTunes in your mobile device; ALL agree?

us & Him

Chilly —  August 22, 2012 — 1 Comment

…simple truth out of my journal.

Help us, O God of our salvation! Help us for the glory of your name. Save us and forgive our sins for the honor of your name… Then we your people, the sheep of your pasture, will thank you forever and ever, praising your greatness from generation to generation.

Psalm 79:9, 13

  • We are saved for the glory & honor of His name, NOT our own.
  • He does the saving, we do the thanking & praising.

Pass it on from generation to generation!

Word.
