I love the Bible! Seriously, I LOVE IT! I especially love to read it late at night when everyone else is asleep and things are quiet & peaceful. In these times, I feel like I’m sitting alone with God, hearing Him speak just to me. I meditate on what God is saying – really listening with my heart.  Knowledge speaks, Wisdom listens.  And, man, do I want (need) wisdom! For this reason, I find myself in the book of Proverbs almost daily!

Here’s something that really spoke to my heart yesterday:

My son, preserve sound judgment and discernment, do not let them out of your sight; they will be life for you… Then you will go on your way in safety and your foot will not stumble; when you lie down, you will not be afraid; when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet” Proverbs 3:21-24.

thenSo many times in Scripture there is a “then.” Unfortunately we don’t always bother to go back and find out what the “then” is referring to. In these verses, from Proverbs, there is a “then” right in the middle, and IF we’re not careful, we will only remember what is promised and omit what is required. I was super tempted to do this myself… allow me to explain:   Continue Reading…

Faith like an Anvil

October was a really tough month (emotionally, physically and spiritually)! It had some awesome highlights, like the “10 Year Anniversary” of Courage Church; but whoa, October was filled with some of the toughest blows of my life and ministry – which means, October was an awesome month! Yeah, I’m getting hammered by the enemy! But, the he is NOT winning! It’s in our most difficult times that we often become aware of how GREAT our God truly is!!

We ALL get pounded!

anvil and hammerHits can come from anywhere!  Physical attacks, unexpected disappointments, harsh & careless words, family drama, mind games, tough finances, suffering of others, lies, hate, poor choices, jealousy and straight-up meanness! Never forget, the devil hates you. He doesn’t back off when  you’re down or weak — he grabs a sledge hammer!

Ha! But, I know something…

The anvil outlasts the hammer.

God has built us to endure and overcome every blow of the enemy…

What if the Lord had not been on our side when people attacked us? They would have swallowed us alive in their burning anger. The waters would have engulfed us; a torrent would have overwhelmed us. Yes, the raging waters of their fury would have overwhelmed our very lives. Praise the Lord, who did not let their teeth tear us apart! We escaped like a bird from a hunter’s trap. The trap is broken, and we are free! Our help is from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. Psalm 124:2-8

What if the Lord had not been on my side? Whoa, that’s a terrifying thought!! But, He was (and is)! I’m unbreakable through His power & might! So swing the hammer – this anvil will outlast every hit!

1. How do you handle the pounding of unexpected pain, hate, drama or attacks?

2. Share a time when you were weak but HE was strong (see: 2 Corinthians 12:10).

3. When you get knocked down (spiritually, emotionally, etc) do you whine or win? Explain.

I’m praying, today, that God gives you (and me) faith like an anvil!  ~ Chilly

Not another Rant!

I’m SO pissed  ANGRY at the devil! I HATE him! I’m sick and tired of playing defense — it’s time to RISE UP and GO AFTER the VICTORY! Who’s with me?

thumbsupThe enemy keeps messing with my kids, my family, my team, my church, my city … MY WORLD! — and, here’s the bad news for him: NONE of these things are really mine — change “my” for “God’s!” BOOM! Oh yeah, the loser is in trouble! It’s PUNK’D time!

Hey listen, this is NOT some tough sounding Facebook RANT or Blog post … I think people are sick of being challenged, WE WANT TO CHANGE! WE WANT RISK and ADVENTURE!

I know I’m not alone but I’m also NOT waiting for others to join me. This is not recruitment or persuasion. It’s time to GO!

Don’t like this? Stop reading now. Go read something else. Please.

God never, EVER, called us to be ordinary; He made us to be EXTRAORDINARY!

This is where I’m going to live.

  • IF you’re called to the ministry of prayer & intercession, PLEASE pray for: the Chiltons, Courage Church, and Detroit.
  • IF you’re called to action & adventure. Feel free to join us on the ground here. There’s no pay or position. Just opportunity to serve and make disciples.

I don’t know about you, but I’m running hard for the finish line. I’m giving it everything I’ve got. No sloppy living for me! I’m staying alert and in top condition. I’m not going to get caught napping, telling everyone else all about it and then missing out myself. 1 Corinthians 9:26-27 Msg.

In the comments, say whatever you want!

God, cause my heart to beat so loud with Your love that it hurts the ears of the enemy and sends panic through the hidden ranks of the air. May it be a mighty warring beat that creates chaos and confusion to every scheme of our adversary. Use me. Help me not back down or sit out. I want to stand blameless and strong. May I be a fearless, servant-hearted, warrior for the King of Kings. Amen. ~ cc

let it BEAT!
