I’m Addicted to Transformation

brush1Yes, it’s true. And, it’s beginning to affect me in humorous ways. For example, I often find myself watching HGTV or DIY channel on TV (instead of being parked on ESPN). I get sucked in by shows like Property Brothers, Love it or List it and Rehab Addict. I love how they find homes that look ridiculous and beyond hope — and then they redesign and renovate them into amazing homes.

A few other shows that catch my attention are Pimp my Ride, Restaurant Impossible, Fast & Loud, and Hotel Impossible (which had me in tears during the most recent episode). Weird, right? Ask me sometime, I’ll explain…

These shows stir my heart and remind me of my mission: seeing Christ transform people, families, churches, communities, cities and nations!

To look into the eyes of a person that’s been told they’re worthless or damaged - then see God’s potential & destiny – makes me come alive! Being able to watch the Holy Spirit turn them into the person they were created to be is breath-taking & amazing!

“Now the Lord  is the Spirit, and where  the Spirit of the Lord is, there is  freedom.  And we all, with unveiled face,  beholding  the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image  from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit” 2 Corinthians 3:17-18.

It begins with FREEDOM through salvation and then continues as we allow the Spirit of God to radically repair and rebuild our hearts, minds, bodies and souls! A wrecked, abandoned, abused and empty house becomes the “temple of the Holy Spirit” 1 Corinthians 6:19.

Transformation is beautiful. Yes, it’s hard work with many unexpected expenses and delays, but oh so worth it IF you stay with it until it’s complete! When this happens, there is greater value than ever and others now want to tour your life to find out how they can be transformed too!

When my life is consumed with this mission, the other worries, distractions, lies and confusion quickly disappear! The world may sell the damaged property for a dollar but we, who see potential, jump at the chance to get our hands dirty in the transformation!

No one is beyond repair. IF we’ll pray our guts out, work our guts out and love their guts out; AMAZING things will happen in them — and, guess what, it changes you too!

  1. Yes! Love this. I get teary-eyed everytime I watch the impact a home restoration has on a family that lost everything, or lived in a a crazy situation… powerful.

    • … and I get teary-eyed when I look in the mirror and think of the mess I was (and would’ve been) had Christ not saved me from myself and transformed me into something of value to Him (and hopefully others). Sigh.

      • Ugh… That has been my reaction over the last week! With my birthday here, I have been looking back over all that God has done. This year is special for me, as it marks the time when I am now officially saved for more than half my life… and as I look back, all I can say is, “Look what the Lord has done! Great is His faithfulness!”

He reached down and pulled up a messed up, arrogant, drug-using, alcohol-abusing, stealing, lying, angry 15-yr-old and set His feet on the Rock… Gosh… it’s so humbling to think of all He has done.

… and to think I was so prideful for so long… like I had anything to boast in other than Christ.
